What is an Intensive and What is an Elective?

INTENSIVE PROGRAM: Campers choose a “major” from our Intensive Program and work closely with expert coaches for approximately 3.5 hours per day, developing individual and team skills crucial to a player’s growth. Time is also devoted to agility, speed, and conditioning to ensure that athletes are strong, fit, and confident when the game is on the line.

At enrollment, each camper selects one intensive per week, from our sports or enrichment option. Each camper will choose their major for the week. Every day, campers will participate in their intensive for about 3 hours. The intensives are designed to offer professional instruction so each camper will develop their skill, conditioning, and knowledge (“game sense”) to improve their performance.

Our coaches have many years of experience in their sport and have many assistant coaches at camp to provide support so our coach-to-player ratio is exceptional.

Our goal at the end of every week is that each camper feels they are better equipped to train for and perform in their sport and they have learned something that will propel them into their season.

ELECTIVE PROGRAM: Our Elective Program ensures that our campers get the most out of their experience, providing them with additional time in the areas that they enjoy most and an opportunity to experience activities they have always wanted to try.

Intensive Sports

Basketball

Led by experienced coaches, our comprehensive program focuses on building a strong foundation of basketball skills, including shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and game strategies. Campers will engage in skill building drills, friendly competitions, and thrilling scrimmages, all aimed at honing their abilities and fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.

Our younger campers will be taught core basketball fundamentals, develop a basic knowledge of the game and have fun! Instruction will focus dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, rebounding and more.

More experienced players will focus on the fundamentals as well as spend time on additional offensive and defensive skills and techniques through drills, skill challenges and team games. Campers will also have the opportunity to work on skills associated with their individual positions (guard, forward, and center).

The NLSA Flag football intensive leads our football players in the necessary skills to advance their game to the next level. Players will be taught:

• catching
• throwing
• flag pulling
• offensive and defensive fundamentals

The program’s curriculum is designed around player development and teaches proper technique in a fun, safe, and high-energy environment. As the week progresses the players will learn WR routes, blocking techniques and effective play design all taught by our experienced coaches.

Each week will end with the NLSA skills challenge and Super Bowl!

At Next Level, our soccer program is a dynamic and thrilling experience for campers passionate about the beautiful game. Led by skilled coaches with a great passion for soccer, we offer a curriculum that covers the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending. Campers have the opportunity to participate in friendly matches and exciting drills that help develop their soccer skills while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship. Our program is designed to accommodate players of all levels, from beginners to advanced.

Our soccer provides instruction on a wide range of areas, including, but not limited to: dribbling, turns, shooting, passing, trapping, heading and move development.

Our younger and less experienced campers will get a fun introduction to the game of soccer. Campers are taught basic skills, field position and rules of the game. Age appropriate drills and games will be used.

For our more experienced players, our program is designed to help campers enjoy soccer, enhance technical ability and prepare for the demands of the game at the next level. Sessions focus on skill development and tactical training. Our program offers a great balance of individual skills as well as team development and strategies through daily scrimmages and games.

With two hours of ice time and one hour of off-ice training each day, the NLSA Hockey Intensive program provides our players with lots of time to work on skill building, position training, and games.

Our professional coaches will work with your child to improve their skills through:

For several hours each week our Goalie Coaches join us on the ice to run the NLSA goalies through specific training sessions. Each goalie will improve their style of play and most importantly face many, many shots – which every goalie wants and needs to improve. We also go through dynamic stretching and dry-land training each day to improve each athlete’s overall fitness.

Our goal is for each NLSA Hockey player to learn something about their game, improve their skill and overall become a better hockey player by the end of the week!

Facilitated by counselors and coaches, our approach to our electives is combining a bit of instruction with recreational gameplay giving campers the opportunity to play old favorites or try new things while still being competitive and having fun with their friends. Elective Activities include:

Nights at Next Level are a very special time when the entire camp comes together. Each evening is more epic than the last.

Every week, campers enjoy some of Next Level Summer Academy classics like our Welcome Campfire. The rest of the week we mix it up with camper favorites to be sure they are smiling.
